yesterday i managed to catch part of the michael medved show. i do try to listen to him everyday but my work schedule does not always allow it and when my schedule does i can only listen to part of the broadcast. yesterday was one of those days in which i was able to hear part of the broadcast. so before i get into the meat of this post please allow me to make the disclaimer that i did not hear the entire show. the portion i did hear was about reparations being made to...i am at a loss for words, please understand that i mean no slur on anyone nor do i mean to be flippant but i am not sure what the current p. c. term should be so i will have to say black americans (african americans...what do i use?). from what i heard i gather that there are those in the black community (african american community...again, what do i use?) who believe that some type of reparations should be made to people of african american descent (black american descent?) due to slavery. it occurred to me that many of those same people who want reparations and apologies would also argue that egyptian history is also black history because egyptians were black (honestly i do not know whether this is true as i have not researched the subject). if this is true and i were an israeli or of hebrew descent and i were to use their same logic then shouldn't i be asking for reparations from egypt? after all, weren't the hebrews/israelites slaves to the egyptians? wasn't a whole culture (or at least a large portion of it) built upon the backs of hebrew/israelite slaves? can't i go one step further with this logic and say that because egyptian history is black history (african american history?) then (if i were of hebrew descent) can i not ask for reparations and apologies from the very same black community (african american community?) that is demanding apologies and reparations? i do not think that they are entirely motivated by the issue of slavery. i think part of their motivation has to do with $omething green.
